Location was fantastic right in the middle of bustling Alkmaar, relatively near the train station! Was perfect for our trip and having the massive bed with a big TV was a fantastic bonus too.
Conveniently located across from the train station and within a 10-minute walk from the old city centre of Alkmaar, Hotel Stad en Land offers rooms with free Wi-Fi.
great value for money, great location. very attentive employee.

Alkmaar surprised me in many ways, a beautiful place, with lots to see and do. Great cafes, restaurants, local shops. The people are very kind, I highly recommend visiting, I will definitely come back more often. From Amsterdam central station you can take the Intercity train, which takes around 30 minutes. I recommend the 1840 Foodbar restaurant and the Anne&Max café, both excellent.

We were lucky during our stay Alkmaar celebrated the 450 Years Ontzet from the Spaniards. The festivities were awesome. Alkmaar was very central for us in the Netherlands. We visited the great St Laurent church, Bergen, Bergen aan Zee, Egmond aan Zee, Amsterdam, Zaanse Schans, Den Helder and walked the beautiful parks in Alkmaar.

A lovely alternative to Amsterdam - the water courses around the city give the place a very special feel. And the people are very helpful and friendly. If you get a chance to, dine at Herren van Sonoy, a restaurant just a short walk away from the Grand Hotel Alkmaar on Gedempte Nieuwesloot.

If you want a mini-Amsterdam experience without the big city hassle, Alkmaar is the place to go. Very "Dutch" but on a much smaller scale than other cities. Lots of cute lanes to wander down, an amazing church, loads of cute coffee shops and artisan boutiques. Excellent bars and restaurants - and of course, a few canals and too many bikes!

It was great to stay in another part of the Netherlands...
It was great to stay in another part of the Netherlands other than Amsterdam. I would say it is more suited to couples, older people or families. There are some coffee shops but the feel of the town is much calmer and more chilled than Amsterdam. One of the pluses is that there is a great High street where you can find some little gems and some fantastic places to eat and drink.
Immediately along the bicycle trail through Alkmaar. Close to the Cheese Market /Museum and multiple other restaurants and shops . Relatively secure parking in the open parking garage with locked front gate . Make sure to bring your own heavy duty locks . Reception was friendly and helpful . Room 325 was spacious, bright and clean . Bathroom had great soaking bathtub and was clean with toiletries. Large elevator was available.
Breakfast was a bit pricey but had quite a few hot and cold choices .
Location was perfect, two minutes walk from the centre and the cosy shopping streets. The apartment was small but had everything we needed and very clean. The cheese cellar under the bed was a lovely touch, as was the welcoming wine, cheese, nuts and bread left out for us, even a chilled white in the fridge! Did not get to meet the owner but all contact was very professional and pleasant. Will definitely stay again when in Alkmaar. Might even go back just to stay there..
Loved the bed, super comfortable and cosy sheets. Was pleasantly surprised to find there was an AC unit in the room, which is kinda rare at this kinda hotel in Europe. Shower had decent water pressure (but no movable head). Staff were helpful and accommodating, bringing our luggage up to the room for us (super appreciated given tons of stairs!). Right next to the canal and central high street in Alkmaar with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants very close!
The place was great. I would definitely come again in case I have to visit Alkmaar in the future. The only downside I can think of is that the heating is a bit slow. In our case we arrived in the evening and in the next day the temperature was comfortable. Anyways everything else was just perfect - the kitchen had everything you can think of, the beds were comfortable, the living area was superbly designed, clean and tidy.
The bed, including the mattress was very comfortable. The shower and bathroom very good. I appreciated the coffee/tea possibility.
Location was right in the center of Alkmaar; I was sleeping on the side of a busy street of the hotel but didn't hear any noise nor light of street lighting.
All in all: a very comfortable hotel where I definitely will stay again.
Kings Inn Hotel was quiet (away from the 15minute church bells) private and very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
The airline delivered my bag to the hotel and rhe staff delivered it to my room which I greatly appreciated!
The location is excellent - near town centre and bus stop which takes you to the Alkmaar station.
Wow, what an amazing stay at this little gem in Alkmaar! We loved exploring the city, day-tripping to Amsterdam and coming home to this comfortable and cozy hotel. The staff were incredible and so friendly, welcoming and on top of everything. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and beautiful experience in Holland!
The best hotel we‘ve ever been privileged enough to stay at in Alkmaar. Amazing location (right in the Centre of Alkmaar) and it only gets more breathtaking when you walk in. High quality Suite (there was even Waschmaschine and Dishwasher), definitely will give it a 10/10 and will recommend to others.
Reception staff extremely helpful trying to find somewhere for dinner at short notice. Very early check out and hotel put together the most amazing packed breakfast that lasted all day! Rooms very comfortable and spacious. Plenty of parking spots even though very busy site.
Right in the middle of Alkmaar (so no, you cannot park by the front door ;))
A very warm welcome by the host and there was cake waiting for us.
The apparment was very nice and has everything you need - including a rooftop terrace.
Great location close to the centre of Alkmaar. The building used to be a school and has a lot of character. My room had a huge bathroom, the bed was very comfy, and I was sorry that I could only stay for one night.
This is a very nice modern apartment in the walking district of Alkmaar. Staff was super helpful upon arrival. Met us and took us to the parking garage. Then escorted us to the apartment.
Highly recommended!
